Glossary of Terms for TeleWebcast/TeleSeminar Marketing

Audio Postcard – an email with a audio voice embedded into the email such that when opened the audio file will be able to be played usually with a marketing and promotion message.

Autoresponder – a computer program that automatically sends out a pre-written email in response to an email sent to it. Also, autoresponder could respond to some other trigger such as from a website sign-up sheet. The autoresponder is typically used in online marketing to instantly send information to potential or actual customers. Autoresponders can also be set up to respond with a series of pre-written emails.

Blog – (short for web log)a website, or website page, where typically shorter entries are posted such as stories, articles, news releases or any information of interest. The individual blog posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order with the most recent post at the top of the list. Comments on the blog post may or may not be allowed at the blog owners discretion.

Bridge Line – a telephone conference call service for the host, guest(s) and listeners to participate in a live TeleWebcast or Teleseminar which is typically managed by the host for the call.

Call to Action – a promotion technique within a TeleWebcast or TeleSeminar to persuade the listeners to take some desired action in response to the marketing information presented.

Case Study – a business or marketing story that presents successes and/or failures related to the topic of discussion or learning.

Cold Call – a telephone call or in person visit by a vendor to a prospective client who has no previous connection to the vendor.

Database – a organized collection of data records typically stored on a computer that has the capability of being searched in any of a number of ways.

Ethical Bribe – something of real value used as a teaser to offer to potential customers; usually given as a free incentive to get their first name and email address.

FAQ Call – an FAQ or F.A.Q call means a telephone call to answer frequently asked questions.
